It’s like an audio chatroom. You can have live audio conversations on Twitter with this Spaces feature. It’s a rival of the popular ClubHouse app. In Spaces, Anyone can join, listen, and speak on Twitter for iOS and Android.

You have always followed someone’s tweets in the Twitter but now you can hear their voice! Maybe you can also get convinced by their voice and find out that your friend id is not a fake id!! How nice!

Twitter Spaces

To start a Space:

Long-press the Compose tweet button.

Select the Spaces icon which looks like multiple circles in a diamond shape.

Or, the other way around is:

Tap your profile photo (like you’re creating a Fleet).

Scroll right to find the Spaces option.

When you’re ready to begin, tap Start your Space. Your microphone will be off by default, so you’ll need to turn it on by tapping the mic icon.

While creating the Space, there’s an option to add captions or a description . It is recommended to add a short but specific line that mentions the topic that you’ll be speaking about.

Anyone (both iOS and Android users) can join a Twitter Space as a listener.

To join a Twitter Space:

Tap the purple circle around a host’s photo at the top of your timeline or tap the purple Spaces box within a tweet.

Once the space has started, the Host can send requests to Listeners to become Speakers by tapping on the people icon  and adding speakers or tapping on a person’s profile picture within a space and adding them as a Speaker. Listeners can request permission to speak from the Host by tapping on the Request icon below the microphone.

 To share Spaces:

Send an invite via DM or share it on your timeline via a tweet or copy the link to the Space.

Up to 10 people (other than the Host) can be added as speakers to a Space. But there is no limit on the number of listeners.

You can choose from these three options for speakers:

  • Everyone
  • People you follow
  • Only people you invite

To block someone in space:

If you are hosting a space, people you’ve blocked can’t join. Speakers and Listeners can report and block others in the Space, or can report the Space. If you block a participant in the space, you will also block that person’s account on Twitter. If the person you blocked joins as a Listener, they will appear in the participant list with a Blocked label under their account name. If the person you blocked joins as a Speaker, they will also appear in the participant list with a Blocked label.

To mute in space:

To mute a speaker in a live space, tap on the account’s avatar, which will pull up an option menu. Tap Mute their mic.

To end the space:

Only the host has the ability to end space. Tap Leave in the top right, this will end the Space for everyone.

That’s all about Twitter Spaces in a nutshell! Hope this blog provided info that helps you to use Spaces today and have fun chat with your friends on Twitter.

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
